Greenpeace Climate Defender Camp

Greenpeace Climate Defender Camp

Greenpeace activists and local community finish constructing a dam on a peatland canal to stop the drainage of the carbon-rich peatland as part of their “Climate Defender Camp” at Kampar Peninsula, Teluk Meranti village, Riau province, Indonesia on 3 November 2009. The Camp was built to bring urgent attention to the role that deforestation plays in driving dangerous climate change, a critical issue to be addressed at the UN Copenhagen Climate Summit in December. ¬©Greenpeace/Ardiles Rante http://www.greenpeace.org/seasia/ph/News/news-stories/inglourious-treehuggers-dam-cl/
